One of the biggest and best and baddest EDM festivals in the whole wide world just wrapped up its opening weekend in Boom, Belgium. That festival is Tomorrowland and it is absolutely magical.
Tomorrowland was first held in 2005 and has since become one of the world’s largest EDM, and for that matter, any type of music’s annual festivals. It currently stretches over 2 weekends and usually sells out very quickly with attendees showing up from all over the world. One thing you see at Tomorrowland is an abundance of nation’s flags. Flags from literally all over the world. The other thing that Tomorrowland does that is really cool is that it has a theme every year. This year the theme is ‘The Story of Planaxis’.
The festival has truly grown beyond leaps and bounds, as EDM, in general, has right alongside it. In its debut year, the festival had just seven DJs (David Guetta & Armin Van Buuren headlining) and just 9,000 attendees. As of 2017, it has ballooned into two weekends, 56 acts and 400,000 attendees!
Tomorrowland preaches that:
The People of Tomorrow are here enjoying life to the fullest without having to compromise everything. We are responsible for the generation of tomorrow and respect each other and Mother Nature. We believe in a commitment to create a reality that relates positively with Mother Nature and contributes to the well-being of the next generations. Let’s engage with each other and do something good today, for which we will be grateful for tomorrow.
There were some incredible acts already performing this weekend that just passed.
